The two blue cards

These two cards are my most recently made cards. I think my cardmaking skills have evolved a bit. Or maybe it's just the right tools and supplies...

The first one is fairly big, about 15 cm x 21 cm. My hubby asked me to make a card to his retiring boss. It had to be big enough for all the signatures by the work team. For the blue embossed part I blended some Distress inks on a Canson Imagine mixed media paper. After it had dried I put it inside an embossing folder (I think the pattern was designed by Anna Griffin) and ran it through my Big Shot machine. Also the white strip was embossed with an embossing folder from the same pack. I added the gold foils to that white strip with double-sided tape. The sentiment was stamped with a Lawn Fawn's stamp set and the flower was from the Altenew's stamp set. I stamped the flower and the leaves with gold ink and then colored the flower with diluted Distress ink. At the top of the card is a glitterly tape to give a little sparkle.

The retirement card

The card below I have just finished. It's going to my sister. The background has Distress inks and some Lindy's sprays. I put some glass beads on top of the wet card, sprayed some water over it and dropped some color to the beads. The color flowed down the bead and went underneath it. I took the beads off before it had completely dried so the circles look more subtle. The edges of the paper was distressed with scissors and the dots and lines drawn with gold gel pen. The sentiment has some white ink on it and it has a matte finish. The fairy stamp is by Whimsy stamps. I colored the stamped image with the diluted Distress inks and then brushed it over with some pearl glimmer mist by Tattered angels. The ribbon under the fairy is organza.
