Lindy's color challenge June 2018

I decided to participate in the Lindy's color Challenge. Well, I had thought about it for some time now and this time I decided to actually do something. So, here is my little piece for the challenge.

June 2018
The size is 14 x 13 cm (about 5x5'5 inch) and I guess I'd call it a mixed media work. As usual the original work wasn't going to be like this one, but knowing my way of creating (making something pretty, ruining it, fixing it and repeat that a few times) It's not unusual to have something different in the end that it was in the beginning.

In the first version I covered the background with some washi tapes. I used the 13arts modeling paste (I first tried the Prima's plaster paste but it was way too running) and a stencil by Heidi Swapp. While the paste was still damp I started adding colors. I got too carried away with the paste and colors, that after staring at it for some while I took a sheet of white watercolor cardstock and placed it over the whole piece. Pressed firmly and then checked the damage. Well, the original looked still awful but the imprint looked way better so I decided to continue with that one.

Below in the image you can see the products that I used. Since I don't have full range of Lindy's sprays/ color powders, I replaced some of the products with similar color. So, I had the Raspberry lemonade and the Aloha avocado, which fills the minimum requirements (2 colors). I replaced the Bells of Ireland green with Lindy's Luscious Lime. The Yellow rose of Texas and the Peony scarlet red were replaced with the Gellatos, banana and blood orange.

I used some diecuts. One of the dies set is in the picture below but I also used some die cuts that I had from previous projects. The white lace diecut borders I left white but the butterfly I painted with Prima's acrylic paint (fairy wings). For the edges of the base and the phrase I used Prima's ancient coin acrylic paint. For the flowers and the piece under the phrase and butterfly I used Raspberry lemonade. I also used the Ecoline brush pens with the piece under the phrase.
