Some small mixed-up media

I  have had for some time a few unfinished backgrounds which I finally got to finish into mixed media projects (or sort of like that, anyway). Some of the backgrounds hang around for weeks or even months without any progress. Some are happy accidents and some failures with layers of unsatisfying results. In the end they all became something I like or might like eventually.

The Dragonfly
The background for this one was one of those "I'll just mix some of these together and see what happens". I had made a batch of mixture of gel medium and watercolor powders. I don't remember which colors or brand... no wait, I think they were Brushos. I used a chevron patterned stencil during the process. I sprinkled some more powdered colors while it was still wet. I sprayed water over it so the powders would dissolve better. At some point I started to dislike it and before it had dried I took it under the running water and washed away the gel medium. The pigment on the powdered water…

The two blue cards

These two cards are my most recently made cards. I think my cardmaking skills have evolved a bit. Or maybe it's just the right tools and supplies...

The first one is fairly big, about 15 cm x 21 cm. My hubby asked me to make a card to his retiring boss. It had to be big enough for all the signatures by the work team. For the blue embossed part I blended some Distress inks on a Canson Imagine mixed media paper. After it had dried I put it inside an embossing folder (I think the pattern was designed by Anna Griffin) and ran it through my Big Shot machine. Also the white strip was embossed with an embossing folder from the same pack. I added the gold foils to that white strip with double-sided tape. The sentiment was stamped with a Lawn Fawn's stamp set and the flower was from the Altenew's stamp set. I stamped the flower and the leaves with gold ink and then colored the flower with diluted Distress ink. At the top of the card is a glitterly tape to give a little sparkle.
