Gold and glitter - A challenge from 13arts

While I was working on the Lindy's color challenge I was also planning on another challenge. The 13arts had, well still has (the deadline is due tomorrow), an ongoing challenge that is themed with gold and more gold. You can check the link to the challenge page down at the bottom.

This was suppose to be an easy peasy but I was really struggling to get a good start. In fact, I did two versions which never made it. The other one got gessoed over with black gesso and is now waiting for a new chance. And the other one... went to the trash bin. It was so ugly, beyond fix-it-with-gesso. This work isn't as pretty as hoped for but I will publish it anyway.

I have a small collection of 13arts' products. I even had to leave out some products because there where so many of them. I started off by adhereing a paper onto the base card. I used the 13arts gel medium as the glue and the paper was from the Until dawn paper pad, size 6x6 inches. I had a diecut cut with the Marianne design…

Lindy's color challenge August 2018

So, I decided to make another mixed media work to enter the Lindy's color challenge. I didn't have any specific plans for it other than to use some new glass beads that I had bought. I also bought some new Lindy's sprays and one of those is Pop rock purple. In fact, I didn't even have any purples before this. I also bought Urban amethyst, Hibiscus rose and Poppin' pink. I was attempted to try them on this particular piece but decided to stick with the colors that were given in the color challenge graphic (plus black and Grab a guy gold). I was a bit confused when I looked at the color graphic and the listed colors. Some of the magical powder jars didn't match with list. But I suppose it wasn't that important since it is okay to use colors that you already have.

Below are shown the supplies and materials that I used. I started with spreading Prima's soft matte gel over the whole background paper. It was a paper meant for oil painting, by the way. Not id…

Let your soul blossom

Here is something quick and simple. The black matte background was stamped with the Hessian (cloth like) stamp and the Script stamp by Kaisercraft. For the other one I used white pigment ink by Latarnia morska and the other Tsukineko Encore champagne metallic ink. The stenciling was made with the Memory box stencil called Modern Tessatina and the Versamagic chalk ink (cloud white).

After a little pondering I decided to use the Altenew's Hennah elements stamp set. I used two flowers and a leaf from it. I stamped them with the Tsukineko Encore bronze metallic ink but the flowers I also embossed with the Lindy's Midnight copper embossing powder. This was a new purchase. I'm not very convinced with that embossing powder. It is so fine that it smudged the flowers and I had to step outside to do the blowing with the heat tool. The fine powder would have spread everywhere if I had stayed at the desk.

I used the Forever in Time metallic markers to color the flowers and to write t…
