In the heat of the Summer
This Summer has been exceptionally hot and it inspired me to make these two little mixed media pieces. The first piece was also inspired by the wedding in which I will be attending as a guest in a couple of weeks.
The background has some sandy texture paste as well as some (a lot!) glitter glue, as you can see on the top left corner. The lattice and the heart flowers are die cuts, I believe they both are by Memory box (edit. the heart flower is by Poppy stamps). To the surface of the hearts I adhered some teeny tiny mini beads and then covered them with Anita's 3d clear gloss.
For the coloring I used some Lindy's sprays, unfortenately I don't remember which exact colors they were. They could have been probably Rizzo's rowdy red, Autumn maple crimson, Summer loving sun and Burnt umber... And probably Golden doubloon. In fact, I might have used more colors because I had problems with knowing when to stop. I just kept adding more colors and watched them flow while heating with the heat tool. I think this was the first piece I used the heating tool to quick dry the colors. I also used some Prima's opal magic waxes on the surface. The glitter glue was either sprinkled sugar or frosted lace by Ranger, or both. Can't really tell anymore because the glitter glue got colored in the making process.
This next piece is one of those "construct - destruct - reconstruct" pieces. I started of with something I didn't like, I tried to make something out of it but no, it just didn't look interesting. I ripped it in smaller pieces and then glued them randomly on a new base and suddenly, it's turning out to be one of my favourites. Well, it took a lot of glitter glue by Rayher, some mini beads by 13arts or some other brand, crackling paste and color sprays by Lindy's and Tattered angel to make it prettier and interesting.
