Kasia's Advent Calendar 2019

The front cover of the finished art journal

I'm taking part in an other Christmas calendar challenge, too. It's the Kasia's Advent Calendar and if you like to join it it's still open to enroll for free. But hurry, the enrolling is closing soon. Use the hashtag #KasiasAdventCalendar to see what the others are making.

In this post I will be updating what I have been making in my art journal during the challenge. Well, I don't have an art journal or a book to to do some art in it, so I'm going to build up my art journal on the way. When I get it done, I'll make some nice covers for it.

The challenge is to use only a limited amount of colors and supplies. We were bound to choose a color palette which we will use during the challenge. I know my color palette is not perfect but that's what I'm going to use. The first items I chose were the Gelatos sticks: metallic blueberry, metallic melon, iced coffee and gold champagne. I chose the rest according to their color scheme.

The color palette: blueish, reddish, brownish and yellowish (ha ha!)

My limited supplies

And the stencils and stamps

1. Post card to myself with some encouraging words

Day 1: The post card

2. Fairy tales: The favourite book from the childhood. I chose "The Famous five" book series by Enid Blyton. I couldn't choose just one book. I used the following supplies: Distress Oxide worn lipstick & faded jeans, Posca markers black & white, black aquarelle wooden pencil

Day 2: Fairy tales

3. Allow: What are you allowing youself to do? I used these supplies: Distress Oxide fossilized amber & vintage photo, Distress Stain old paper, Pssst! Sheer shimmer sprittz gold, Posca markers black & white, Mudra stamp Checker

Day 3: Allow

Just like the other mixed media Christmas calendar challenge, I didn't get to finish this. There are a couple of spreads that I haven't updated here, yet. I shall add them later and perhaps I'll do a spread or two once I get the supplies near me.

I did not feel very inspirational and the time issue didn't help with the creativity. When I watched the video where Kasia said not to play catch up, I took it as a big no-no and eventually gave up. Why even bother to continue...

Edited 28.01.2020:
I have now finally finished the Kasia's Christmas calendar. The last two spreads (the other one was the index) I did on the 24th of January. That's a month late than the original schedule. After finishing the spreads I decided to finish up the art journal by adding a hard back cover and a satin ribbon. I could have added a proper front cover but the postcard seemed enough. Since I now had more time to play some of the spreads look more detailed than the others. I re-watched Kasia's videos but I did not entirely follow the prompts, like answering questions and such. I just went with the flow that I had jumped into.
