Mixed media Christmas calendar / Mixed media Joulukalenteri 2019

Hey, remember the Mixed media Christmas calendar from last year this? Here's what I did back then. The mixed media Christmas calendar is happening this year too, and in this post I will be creating my work. I will update the post whenever I have something to show you.

If you like to check out the Mixed media Christmas calendar blog, here is the link to get you there. In the social media use the hashtag #mixedmediajoulukalenteri19 to see what others have done.

Day 1: Gesso

Day 2: Glue some paper

Day 3: Add masking tape for texture

Day 4: Use a stencil and some paste

Sooo.... I never got to finish this challenge. I did do a few more steps after these pictures here, but after them the inspiration, the interest and the spare time disappeared. Fuzzy cutting the images just was too much for me. But I'll check out the unfinished prompts and try to finish this. If not this year (only three days left), then I'll do it next year. And if I don't feel like following the prompts, I will make of it something more me.

Day 5: Wash with gesso the whole surface

Day 6: Paint lightly with acrylic paint and remove some of it

Day 7: Repeat day six but with a darker tone

Day 8: Stamp dark / black patterns with just one stamp

Day 9: Repeat day 7 but use a different stamp

This far I managed to get before I lost the interest and creativity. The next prompts were about cutting images out of a photo and magazines. I did not have anything to cut. I had limited supplies with me but nothing to fuzzy cut from. I didn't have the time to look for images from the internet, nor did I have the interest to buy any magazines. And also, I don't usually use people as focal points so I felt pretty lost there. This challenge beat me just when I thought I had a good start.

I am determined to finish this challenge, someday somehow. So in January 2020 I started looking for images to cut. The end of February is almost here and the only thing I got so far is a word. I thought it would fit in well with the background. Now, I just need the images...

Day 12: Cut a word from a magazine
