Lindy's color challenge December 2020

A close-up on that art journal spread

The year 2020 has finally come to its end. I bet everyone has been waiting for it with anticipation. Obviously the Corona virus won't disappear when the year changes but hopefully the new year will be much better. At least that is what we all hope for.

In January 2020 I challenged myself to make an art journal with Lindy's monthly color challenges. December is the last spread on it. For the year 2021 I may start a new art journal or I may create something else. Who knows... I don't, yet.

The previous months I created on loose pages and right before I started planning on the December's challenge I decided to put the pages together into the art journal. I just simply glued the pages together, added black spreads to the front and the end and then added covers with a ribbon. All the Lindy's color samples that I had saved after each color challenge I used on the index page.

So below will be two videos. The first one is about assembling the art journal and the second one is about the December challenge.

Right now I'm regretting that I decided to shoot a video and did not take any pictures during the making. But here is a brief-ish explanation how I created this one:

I used the 13@rts' white gesso to cover the background and used it also with the Mudra stamps stencil to get those festive patterns. I added some crackling effect to the edges with the Ranger's texture paste (opaque crackle). However, you can't really see that because it got covered in the process.

For coloring I used the Cosmopolitan pink shimmer spray as well as Bodacious blush and Gag me with a spoon gray magical powders by Lindy's gang. I used the colors on both the background and the flowers. For the flowers I drew a paper pattern that resembled (badly) the flower on that stencil pattern. Acrylic paints by Ranger (black and white) were also used.

For texturing the background I used glitter glues (by Ranger, Docrafts and Tonic studio), Finnabair's pink art sugar, different colors of micro beads and Anita's 3d clear gloss. And more glitter glues. And a little more micro beads... I also used glitter glues and micro beads on the center of the flowers.
