Kasia's Advent Calendar 2018 (re-opened)

Day 16: Colours

The Kasia's Advent Calendar, both 2018 and 2019, are re-opened. They have been open for a while now and they were opened so that people could take their minds off the Corona virus thing going around the world. What better way than stay safe at home and do some art.

I have already finished the last year's Advent Calendar so I won't re-do it now, but it is possible to do it again. There were also some bonus prompts which I didn't make at the time, so I might try them later.

Here is the link to the Kasia's Advent Calendar 2018:

There is also a group called Everything Art Playground on Facebook but to be able to join the group you need first enroll to the class (the link above).

The supplies I chose for my kit

So, like the last time we chose some limited supplies to work with during this challenge. Beside the listed products I will also use some washi tape, glue, tape runner and various types of paper (scrap pieces, printed images, book pages etc.)

Here is the list of my supplies that are in the photo:
- scissors
- palette knife
- flat brush (I might use others too)
- Tiny dot stamp by Kaisercraft
- Dot fade stencil by Tim Holtz
- Claudine Hellmuth Studio acrylic paints by Ranger (modern red, sable brown, yellow pastel, charcoal black & blank canvas white)
- Glimmer  mist sprays by Tattered angels (english ivy & sugar maple)
- Ayeeda mist by 13@rts (pearl scarlet)
- acrylic spray by Marabu (yellow)
- archival ink by Ranger (jet black)
- VersaMagic chalk ink by Tsukineko (cloud white)
- thin Posca acrylic paint markers by Uni Mitsubishi Pencil (black & white)
- aquarelle wooden colored pencil by Staedtler (black)
- regular pencil
- modeling paste by Liquitex
- white gesso by Liquitex (let see if I manage without the black and the clear gesso)
- iridescent medium by Liquitex (to extend my color palette)
- crystal clear gel by Marabu (also to extend my color palette and to use as a glue)

Some sort of color palette made with the supplies

I won't be following the prompts a day at a time but depending on how creative I might feel I will make as many prompts as I can in a day. I will build up the art journal as I go. I already have one spread, the color palette as shown above. The covers I will make sometimes later.

On the July 11th I got to finish this Mixed media Advent Calendar. Instead of taking photos of the pages I decided to make a video. Notice this is my first this type of Youtube video. I used the Blender software to edit the video and then added the music in Youtube. I tried to choose a less annoying Christmas music. Next time I might look for the music somewhere else.

The Days 6 and 11 had quotes as prompts. Day 6 was a quote by Mary Oliver and the day 11 by Emily Dickinson. Below are the quotes:

The Mary Oliver's quote:
"Instructions for living life:
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it."

***

Emily Dickinson's quote:
"If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain.
If I can ease one life
the aching or cool down the pain,
or help one fainting robin unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain."

So the last words... I didn't feel as happy with the color and supply choices as I did with the 2019 Advent Calendar. Neither did I get easily inspired. I had to skip some spreads and later I had to force myself to create something to those pages. Some spreads formed surprisingly easy. I learned to cut pictures and words from magazines, although I had troubles finding good magazines to cut. I don't usually buy them and if I did I didn't want to cut them so soon after purchase. Day 13 "Thing you love" was also supposed to be a collage. I ended up using old die-cuts and stickers, instead.

Day 13: Thing you love

Day 15: Kindness
Day 21: Home
